Other eligibility criteria
  • At least ten years of experience working in fundraising, sales, marketing or public relations
  • Experience in corporate or consumer sales would be preferred
  • Prior experience in an NGO would be an advantage
  • Must be prepared to travel

Detailed Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

To lead the fund raising, marketing and communications team at APD to achieve the goals and objectives of APD, thereby enabling it to fulfill its mission and vision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish positive relationships with donors from the corporate sector, foundations and family offices, including senior leaders in addition to the CSR teams.
  • To prepare and execute a marketing and fundraising plan that will meet the strategic goals of the organisation
  • Develop a plan for targeting and qualifying new donors with the objective of developing a base of qualified donors who can support the long-term funding needs of the organisation
  • Participate in preparation of budgets every quarter to determine what the fundraising department’s needs are going to be
  • Engage with Program teams to structure program features and proposals to make them more aligned with client charters
  • Manage and keep updated organisation charts, CSR budgets and contact lists including the systems to manage campaigns, proposal writing and donor relationships
  • Prepare a competitive framework for each of our programs including an understanding of other NGO’s competing for the same funds
  • Develop a plan to build relations with individual and HNI donors as well as community organisations
  • Identify and execute programs and campaigns that will enhance individual giving
  • Collaborate with the Head of Volunteer Programs to maximise effective utilisation of volunteer opportunities
  • Assign duties to team members and monitor the achievement of goals and targets
  • APD’s mandate is to create awareness and sensitivity about the challenges and rights of people with disabilities with all stakeholders including Civil Society, Government, Academia, Health professionals, Researchers, Corporates, Lawmakers, other NGOs, Care-givers and Persons with disability. Towards this end, the Director - Marketing will pursue efforts to keep a positive APD image, which can entail creating and promoting events regularly, communications with the external world of donors, beneficiaries, communities and the government
  • Control and manage all communications, collaterals and assets including social media and internet channels
  • Coordinate with Advocacy teams so that the mission of APD is advanced through a variety of channels and events
  • Partner with other wings of the organisation to enhance overall effectiveness of the department
