Every human being has a dream. But what if one is physically or mentally challenged what kind of a dream one could have. However there is one small chance and that can be provided by the more fortunate in society to help and guide the less fortunate and that is exactly what APD is providing.
APD started nearly half a century ago. As was my wish I am now a volunteer at APD for the last 3 years. I have assisted at Shradhanjali Integrated School and now am at Communication and Fund Raising Department. God willing, I would like to continue serving APD in any manner that the organisation desires.
Andrew Millner, ZFS
“I worked with APD in October 2007, helping to develop the organization’s fundraising and marketing abilities.
During my four weeks in Bangalore, I was touched by the humanity of the place and those that worked there. Everyone was dedicated to help improve the lives of young people with disabilities in the local area, Bangalore and beyond. The sheer scale of the operation, given APD's relatively young age was staggering. Everyone was warm and inviting and willing to embrace new ideas.
Recommending corporate managers to come and work as volunteers in APD is the most rewarding part of my time at Zurich. I have recommended people to use their skills with NGO's in India.
You cannot properly prepare yourself for what it is like, however if you are open to new experiences you can learn so much about yourself and your way of working.
The smiling and happy faces of the children and young adults who I met at APD will stay with me for a long time. I cannot recommend the charity and the opportunities to work with them enough.”
